On Tuesday, July 27th, Hempitecture participated in IND HEMP's Montana Summer Summit in Fort Benton, Montana. IND HEMP gathered hemp industry leaders and advocates from across the nation to showcase their new decortication facility as well as tour multiple Hemp fields.
This visit with IND HEMP commenced a new partnership with Hempitecture, where they are becoming our primary supply chain partner. They have been working to grow the US fiber and grain hemp industries as the nationwide leader in acreage-under-contract and decortication technologies. Hemp decortication is the process of separating the hemp plant into bast fiber and hurd fiber.
The field day took us to a number of grain and fiber fields in Montana where they will be contract farming hemp straw from regional buyers converting them into fiber variety industrial hemp and hurd for various applications, including Hempitecture's HempWool and Hempcrete products. With the construction of Hempitecture’s nonwoven hemp insulation facility underway, IND HEMP will be a critical partner in our development.

Following the tours of the farms, members of the industry gathered at the Agricultural Heritage Museum in Fort Benton for a round table discussion around the opportunities and challenges with growing and manufacturing industrial hemp in the United States. The event concluded with a detailed tour of IND HEMPs state-of-the-art decortication facility, which is expected to be operational by October of 2021.

"We are thrilled to partner with IND HEMP and usher in the future of more truly sustainable building materials, manufactured here in the U.S. and grown here in the U.S. under the care of IND HEMP," Founder and CEO of Hempitecture, Mattie Mead, says. "This partnership marks an exciting moment in the reemergence of the industrial hemp industry in the United States."
The Summer Summit provided those in the hemp industry an opportunity to network and collaborate. While this event provided a fantastic occasion to brainstorm with others in the hemp industry, the challenges faced are still prevalent. This opportunity highlights that this industry only grows stronger by working together towards building a better world.
